Receptions and Special Parties
The Redfield Estate is also a wonderful venue for parties celebrating milestone birthdays and anniversaries. Friends and family will long remember a celebration in this wonderful setting. The Estate is ideal for events of 100 guests or less. Our catering kitchen is equipped with commercial grade appliances. For Corporate Business Meetings and Retreats
Sometimes the best ideas about your business come when you’re away from your business. Getting away from it all for a retreat at the Redfield Estate may be just what your staff needs. With rooms suitable for both larger group sessions and smaller breakout groups, the Redfield Estate offers a refreshing change from the usual meeting sites. Private corporate social events held in our unique venue will make a lasting impression.
History
Built in 1929, The Redfield Estate was the home of Kennicott descendents who settled The Grove in the 1830s. Acclaimed authors Louise Redfield Peattie (American Acres) and Donald Culross Peattie (A Prairie Grove) were the first couple to live in the home. George C. Elmslie, a follower of the Louis Sullivan School of Chicago Architecture, designed the house. The home’s fabulous architectural style was inspired by the natural areas of The Grove. A stained glass circle on the large leaded glass window in the main room is placed in such a way that the moon appears encircled here on the vernal equinox in the spring and autumnal equinox in the fall.
