Stepping Stones to Preschool
Choose the Right Path for Your Child
A successful preschool experience for your child begins with the Glenview Park District’s Stepping Stones to Preschool programs. These programs progress from Parent-Child classes designed to build the 1 year-24 month old child’s comfort level in a group environment to “Step It Up” classes where two year olds transition into attending class on their own and learn how to function in a more structured environment. All Stepping Stones to Preschool classes are held at Park Center, 2400 Chestnut Ave. We are sure you will find just the right fit for your child!
Stepping Stones Adult-Child Classes
Side by Side --- is for children as young as 1 year-24 months with a parent. Your very young child will be exposed to a variety of new choices geared toward their developmental stage. A facilitator leads adults and children through songs, stories and craft activities using different sensory media. A great social setting for first-time parents and toddlers.
Me & My Shadow --- is for the slightly older child, ages 2-3, who still needs parental help in a new theme-centered environment. Classes are theme-centered each week with a facilitator guiding adults and children as they work together on arts and crafts, circle time, creative movement and open free play. An ideal way to introduce young children to a more structured setting with planned activities.

Stepping Stones “Step It Up” Classes - 2010-2011
Sessions of these classes run from September through May following the Park Center Preschool calendar. Registration requires a Preschool Registration Packet and must be done in person at Park Center, 2400 Chestnut Ave. Enrollment for these classes for the 2010-2011 school year will begin on February 6, 2010. Stepping Stones for 2’s
Age: 2 yrs. by 9/1/10(toilet-trained is optional)
CLASS MAX: 12
Teacher/Child Ratio: 1:6
The developmental two year old will experience instructional guidance with class routines, while expanding their social awareness and learning appropriate behaviors. Parents/nannies are required to attend class with the child for approximately the first 3 weeks. By Oct. 8, if a child is having significant separation difficulties, inability to stay on task and transition or is unable to behave in a safe and non-disruptive way, we will suggest enrollment in another Stepping Stones class.

Priority Registration for 2011-12
To maintain an ongoing relationship with our current 2 and 3 year
old families, Park Center Preschool will offer
priority registration for the
2011-2012 school year at a date to be determined.
Stepping Stones for Soon 2B3's
Age: Turning 3 within 9/1/10 and 1/31/11 (In process of toilet training - must be achieved by 1/1/11.)
CLASS MAX: 14
Teacher/Child Ratio: 1:7
These children "step up" into a more structured environment. The 2's curriculum is expanded upon in a more challenging way.
